Training is a critical part of every organisation’s staff development ecosystem. Good training can motivate and inspire employees, build culture and esprit de corps, impart essential workplace skills and knowledge, and give people a safe space to reflect, share views and build competency. Governments worldwide spend billions of dollars collectively on public sector training. How can governments choose the best trainers to conduct courses and workshops for public servants?

The Chandler Institute of Governance (CIG) collaborated with the Philippines' Department of Health (DOH) and IDinsight to design and deliver the Policy Design and Administration in Public Health Programme for 30 officers in the DOH from 4 to 11 August 2021.

It has been designed, by the Chandler Institute of Governance, to show the importance of investing time and energy into enhancing the skills of public servants and the structures they operate within in order to deliver a better, more sustainable future.

The Chandler Institute of Governance (CIG) collaborated with Punjab’s (India) Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration (MGSIPA) to design and deliver the Foundational Leadership Programme for Provincial Civil Service (PCS) officers from 2 to 6 February 2021.

The Chandler Institute of Governance (CIG) and Pubjab's (India) Department of Investment Promotion through the Punjab Bureau of Investment Promotion (Invest Punjab) have been working closely since 27 February 2020, to enhance investment promotion and management strategies to drive investments into the State of Punjab. A Collaboration Agreement was signed on 22 May 2020 between CIG and Invest Punjab.

The Chandler Institute of Governance (CIG) and Punjab’s (India) Mahatma Gandhi State Institute of Public Administration (MGSIPA) began a partnership today to enhance the structure and quality of leadership development and training. MGSIPA is an Administrative Training Institute (ATI) at the Government of Punjab, engaged to impart quality training in various disciplines to officers and officials of the State Government and its Boards, as well as the undertaking of research studies.

The Chandler Institute of Governance (CIG) met with Vietnam's National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA) on 16 January 2020 to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between both organisations. The MOU builds upon previous meetings between both organisations in August and September 2019, and aims to enhance civil service training quality and leadership development in Vietnam.

Public sector officials and leaders, government practitioners and academics in Vietnam came together for the Human Resources Training for Public Employees to Meet Public Demands and International Integration Conference held on 6 December 2019 at the Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA) and Hanoi University of Home Affairs (HUHA).

On 25 March and 2 April, the Chandler Institute of Governance organised a programme on public sector human resource management and performance appraisal for the Costa Rica Directorate General for Civil Service (Dirección General de Servicio Civil).

With support from the Chandler Institute of Governance, J-PAL South Asia launched a Governance Unit. The unit will strengthen how they equip leaders and support governments to adopt an evidence-informed approach to decision-making that can improve citizens’ lives and set in place mechanisms to strengthen governance in India.
