CIG and Vietnam’s NAPA Conduct Working Session for NAPA Lecturers

The Chandler Institute of Governance (CIG) met with the President of Vietnam’s National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA), Prof. Dr. Dang Xuan Hoan, on 13 August 2019 to discuss collaboration in research and training senior leaders.

About NAPA

NAPA is a key agency directly under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA). Its mission is to improve competencies, knowledge and skills in leadership, state management and public policy through training programmes and research. With three campuses in Vietnam, it manages, designs and delivers capacity building, training and research programmes for civil servants and public managers in the Vietnamese government.

Meeting with President of NAPA

During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Dang identified possible areas of priority for collaboration between CIG and NAPA, including the design and conduct of a new training programme for senior leaders at the Vice Minister level, joint research on case studies in public management for use in training, joint research in public governance, training of local government officials, and supporting the skills development of NAPA faculty.

In response, CIG affirmed its readiness to support NAPA in these areas. Both parties then agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding as a foundation for future cooperation.

Working Session for NAPA Lectures

Earlier that day, CIG also held a working session for NAPA lecturers on the topic of Singapore’s experience in training senior leaders at the Vice Minister level. CIG’s Executive Director, Wu Wei Neng and CIG Advisory Council Member and Member of the Economic Advisory Group of the Prime Minister, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Minh Khuong, gave presentations and shared their experiences. This session concluded with a lively discussion with NAPA lecturers, which was useful for both sides.

CIG looks forward to a meaningful and long-term partnership with NAPA.
