Zambia's NHIMA & CIG Sign MOU to Deepen Partnership in Capability Development

Joint Press Release between the National Health Insurance Management Authority and
the Chandler Institute of Governance

LUSAKA (ZAMBIA), 7 MARCH 2022 — The Chandler Institute of Governance (CIG) and the National Health Insurance Management Authority (NHIMA) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU),  thus formalising a partnership that began back in 2019.

Through this MOU, both organisations commit to deepen the existing partnership through capability development in the areas of governance, strategic planning and performance management.

Mr Kenneth Sim, Dean of the Chandler Academy of Governance, and Mr James Kapesa, Director General of NHIMA, exchanged tokens of appreciation to commemorate the long-standing partnership between CIG and NHIMA.

The signing ceremony was held in person at the new NHIMA offices in Lusaka. The MOU was signed by Mr James Kapesa, Director General of NHIMA; and Mr Kenneth Sim, Dean of the Chandler Academy of Governance (CAG).

About National Health Insurance Management Authority (NHIMA)

The National Health Insurance Management Authority (NHIMA) is a corporate body established by the National Health Insurance Act No 2. of 2018 supported by Statutory Instrument No.63 of 2019. NHIMA has since implemented the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to facilitate access to quality insured health services for all Zambian Citizens and Established Residents. NHIMA is mandated to manage and administer the NHIS members’ pooled funds for purposes of providing equitable access to essential healthcare based on the principles of solidarity, equity and cross subsidisation of financial and health risks.
