Building a Partnership to Support Anti-Corruption and Civil Service Reform Initiatives in Malawi

Blantyre, Malawi 25 July 2022 — The Chandler Institute of Governance’s (CIG) Board Member Mr Tim Hanstad met with the President of Malawi, His Excellency Dr Lazarus Chakwera. They discussed how CIG and the Chandler Foundation can support the Government of Malawi's anti-corruption and civil service reform agendas. Mr Hanstad is also the CEO of the Chandler Foundation.
Mr Hanstad was in Blantyre, Malawi for the National Anti-Corruption Conference, organised by the Malawi government. During the conference, President Chakwera announced that his administration would reactivate Malawi's participation in the Open Government Partnership.
Mr Hanstad also briefed President Chakwera and senior government officials on the Chandler Good Government Index (CGGI), CIG’s flagship Index which measures the quality of national governance, in 104 countries around the world.
