LUSAKA (Zambia), 22 November 2024 – The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) of Zambia and the Chandler Institute of Governance (CIG) from Singapore have taken a significant step toward enhancing institutional capacity and fostering a culture of integrity in Zambia’s fight against corruption. The two organisations formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish a collaborative framework between the ACC and CIG, focusing on capacity building, organisational and culture development, and strengthening anti-corruption systems.
The MOU was formally signed by Mrs Monica Chipanta Mwansa, Acting Director General of the ACC, and Mr Wu Wei Neng, Chief Executive Officer of the CIG, witnessed by Mr Ivor Mukwanka, Secretary to the Commission of the ACC, and Mr Patrick Mutimushi, Senior Consultant of the CIG.

“The Commission is happy to partner with the Chandler Institute of Governance as it has long been at the forefront of promoting effective governance and public sector leadership. This MOU is a call to action, and it should inspire each one of us to intensify our efforts, embrace innovation, and push forward with renewed vigour in executing our mandate.”

Following the MOU signing, the ACC and CIG co-delivered a four-day Organisational Diagnostic Workshop at the Lusaka Legacy Resort from 18 to 21 November 2024. The workshop brought together 22 ACC senior leaders, department heads, and directors to identify opportunities for operational improvement and foster a culture of excellence within the Commission.

The workshop, facilitated by CIG experts Professor Soh Kee Hean and Mdm Beatrice Mwila, delved into the ACC’s operational and cultural strengths while identifying specific opportunities to drive improvements and strengthen organisational effectiveness.
Speaking at the conclusion of the workshop, Mrs Monica Chipanta Mwansa, Acting Director General of the ACC, emphasised the critical role of the participants in advancing the Commission’s transformative agenda, and highlighted that the “[Participants] are all the best change agents to spearhead the change that the Commission needs. The desired change is huge, but we are equal to the task. It’s a privilege to be part of this team and together we can have the change we desire.”
