CIG and Government of Uganda Build Skills in Process Improvement and Organisational Excellence

KAMPALA (Uganda), 13 March 2024 – The Chandler Institute of Governance (CIG) conducted two workshops in Kampala, first for the Ministry of Public Service (MoPS) Directorate of Management Services, and second for the Civil Service College Uganda (CSCU).

These two workshops were initiated in line with the collaboration priorities jointly identified by MoPS and CIG, to build skills in business process re-engineering and strengthen public sector institutional capacity.

CIG expert Helen Chen discusses the group exercise of redesigning selected organisational process with the Management Analysts.

In the two workshops, CIG worked with participants from MoPS and CSCU to understand the frameworks and tools for improving processes and building institutional excellence within the public sector. In addition, the senior management team at CSCU developed specific action plans to address the agreed-upon priority areas. The workshops were facilitated by CIG’s expert, Helen Chen, alongside CIG’s CEO Wu Wei Neng and Deputy Dean, Programmes, of the Chandler Academy of Governance Sin Xin Ping.

CIG’s CEO, Wu Wei Neng, explains the organisational excellence diagnostic process to the CSCU senior management team.

The CSCU senior management team vote for the key priorities to work on to reach internal alignment and consensus.

MoPS Permanent Secretary Catherine Bitarakwate Musingwiire noted the partnership between the two institutions:

“The Ministry of Public Service appreciates the enormous support and social responsibility that the Chandler Institute of Governance (CIG) has rendered to us. The Ministry pledges full commitment to continued collaboration with the Chandler Institute of Governance for the benefit of the Public Service and the Country at large.”
